Wear loose fitting clothing, change underwear daily and keep the infected area clean and dry. Make sure to wash your clothes, towels and bed linen frequently during your treatment. Exercising, walking and wearing tight clothing or underwear can make the symptoms of jock itch worse.

Today it is flared up even on my head, my ears, and every part of my body.

A microscopic examination of skin scrapings covered in a drop of potassium hydroxide will confirm a fungal cause of jock itch. Occasionally, a fungal culture of the skin scrapings may be necessary. Certain bacteria can produce an eruption in the groin indistinguishable from a fungal infection. An examination with a special ultraviolet light, a Wood’s light, will enable identification.
